Restoration Services for Public Spaces

Restoration for public buildings in Epping: halls, classrooms and offices finished with minimal disruption.

Floor restoration for public spaces in Epping

A public building floor has to cope with heavy footfall, events, furniture and sometimes sport. Done well, a sanded and properly finished wooden floor lasts for decades and looks better than any replacement. Our Epping team restores floors for schools, churches, community halls and offices, and we plan every job around the way your building is used.

Who we work with

  • Schools and academies - halls and classrooms restored during half-terms and summer holidays, with court markings re-applied.

  • Churches & community halls - careful restoration of old parquet and boards, planned around services and hall hire.

  • Offices - sanding and re-coating out of hours or at weekends, so your business keeps running.

Planned around your timetable

Every building has its own pressures: term times, services, bookings or working hours. We schedule work during school holidays, between services and events, or in evenings and at weekends, and we agree a clear programme before we start. Our dust-free machines and low-VOC finishes keep the rest of the building usable while we work.

Compliance you can rely on

Public buildings need the right paperwork, and we provide it as standard. Every project comes with RAMS, COSHH information for our finishes and a copy of our £5m public liability insurance. We are used to working in occupied buildings and follow your site rules.

Floors for sport and activity

Halls used for PE, sport and dance need the right balance of grip and durability. We use specialist sports lacquers with appropriate slip resistance, and re-apply badminton, netball, basketball and other court markings between coats. The result is a floor that looks sharp, performs well and stands up to years of use. We give your caretaking team clear cleaning and maintenance advice.

Why restore rather than replace?

  • Far lower cost than a new hardwood or sports floor

  • Keeps original, high-quality timber and the character of the building

  • Less waste and a lower environmental impact

  • Quicker to complete, often within a single holiday

Maintenance plans for public buildings

A restored floor lasts much longer with a simple maintenance plan. We can set up a schedule of periodic re-coats, booked into the same holiday or quiet period each year, so the floor never wears through to bare timber. We also advise caretakers and cleaning teams on the right products and routines, and recommend entrance matting to stop grit reaching the floor. Many of our school and church clients have been with us for years.

Every project starts with a free site survey, a fixed quote and a clear programme of works. You can see typical costs on our prices page, though larger buildings are always quoted individually.

Our services for public buildings

Most projects combine full floor sanding with wood floor repairs to loose blocks or damaged boards. Between full restorations, lacquer re-coating keeps busy floors protected for a fraction of the cost. Our projects page shows some of the halls and public buildings we have worked on.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you work during school holidays?

Yes. Most school and hall projects are booked into holidays, and we recommend booking early for the summer.

Can you supply risk assessments?

Always. RAMS and insurance certificates are supplied before work starts.

Can you re-apply sports court markings?

Yes - markings are applied between coats so they are sealed under the final lacquer.

Do we need to close the building?

In most cases no. We isolate the work area and use dust-free, low-odour methods.

FAQ

Questions about Public Spaces

All questions
Can you supply RAMS for our site?

Yes — we supply RAMS and insurance certificates for every commercial or public project. We are used to working in schools, churches and offices with strict safety rules.

Can you sand office floors out of hours?

We can work evenings, nights and weekends so the office stays open. Dust-free sanding and low-odour finishes mean minimal disruption to your team.

Can the work fit around term times?

Yes — we plan school and public projects around term dates, events and opening hours. Most halls are finished in a few days, so the space is back in use quickly.

Can you repaint sports hall markings?

Yes. After sanding we apply sports-grade lacquer and can repaint court markings to your layout between coats so they are sealed in. Read more about our school floor restoration.

Is the finish safe once it is dry?

Yes. We use low-VOC oils and water-based lacquers that are safe for children and pets once fully dry. We suggest keeping pets out of the room for the first 24 hours, and trim claws to help the finish last.

Do you work on listed buildings and church halls?

Yes — we restore halls, churches and community spaces, often around services and bookings. We take care with historic timber and choose finishes suited to heavy public use. See churches and community halls.

Decking looks much better
