Engineered & Solid Floor Repairs
Repairs for engineered and solid wood floors in Epping: plank replacement, lifted boards and water damage.
Plank floor repairs done properly
Modern plank floors are tough, but a dropped pan, a leaking dishwasher or a heavy sofa dragged across the room can still leave serious damage. In most cases we can replace just the affected boards and blend them into the rest of the floor. This saves time, money and the disruption of a new floor.
What we repair
Replacing individual planks with deep damage
Fixing boards that have come away from the subfloor
Repairing water-damaged, cupped or swollen sections
Closing gaps caused by movement and fixing failed joints
Knowing your floor
An engineered floor has a top layer of real wood on a stable core; a solid floor is one piece of timber. Knowing which you have tells us how to repair it and how much sanding the floor can take. If you are unsure, our guide can my engineered floor be sanded? explains how to check the wear layer.
Blending the repair
New planks are rarely the exact colour of a floor that has been in sunlight for years. Where needed, a full sand and refinish brings the whole floor to one consistent colour. Oiled floors may only need a re-oil after the repair.
After a leak
Leaking appliances, overflowing baths and wet boots by the door all take their toll. Damp boards swell and cup, and water stains often go right through the wear layer. Once the source is fixed and the floor has dried, we decide whether to sand flat or replace boards. Patience at this stage avoids repeat problems later.
How your floor is fitted
Each fitting method needs its own repair technique. We use the right technique for your floor so replacement boards are secure and level. Leftover boards from the original installation make the best repairs, so let us know if you have any.

Questions about engineered & solid floor repairs
Can damaged boards be replaced invisibly?
We match the species, width and age of your boards wherever possible. After sanding and finishing the whole area, repairs are very hard to spot. Learn more about wood floor repairs.
How should I prepare the room?
Please clear the room of furniture, rugs and small items before we arrive. We can help move heavy furniture if we know in advance. Our preparation checklist has more tips.
Do you need to visit to give a price?
Often, yes. A few clear photos and the room sizes let us give a guide price within a working day. We confirm it with a short visit before work starts, so the final quote is fixed.
Will sanding wear my solid floor out?
A solid wood floor can be sanded many times over its life. Each sand removes only a very thin layer when done properly, which is why period floors are still going strong after a century.
Can you repair a water-damaged floor?
In many cases. Light marks often sand away, while cupped or blackened boards are replaced and blended in. The floor must be fully dry first, so we take moisture readings before starting.
Can you sand an engineered wood floor?
In most cases, yes — as long as the top wear layer is 3 mm or more. We check the wear layer during the free survey, often by lifting a threshold strip or a floor vent. Our engineered floor guide explains more.
