Restoring Victorian Floorboards
Original pine boards in a Victorian terrace in Epping, sanded, gap filled and finished in natural hardwax oil.
About this project
Under a worn carpet, the homeowners found the house's original pine floorboards, with paint around the edges, old staining and a number of split or loose boards.
First we swapped the split boards for reclaimed pine of the same width and fixed down every loose board. Dust-free sanding took the floor back to clean timber, with the edges and corners detailed by hand.
Pine slivers closed the larger gaps, and two coats of natural hardwax oil gave a soft, hard-wearing finish. The room was back in use within two days.
